Bridge to Nowhere

Description

We woke up early in order to try and catch sunrise from Elliot's Beach, Chennai. As we were walking down the beach, we came across a polluted river estuary, which had a half collapsed bridge built across it. As I was later informed, this bridge was nicknamed Broken Bridge by the locals living in Chennai. Initially built in 1967, this bridge was used by fishermen to commute from their hamlets to work. However, this bridge collapsed 10 years later in 1977. This bridge, juxtaposed alongside the hotels on the other side of the river, as well as the complete whiteout provided by the clouds overhead, pictures a peaceful and serene side to Chennai; something that is not really seen within the city centre.
